Biography
Cassandra López, M.A., CCC-SLP (she/her/ella) is a PhD student in Communication Sciences at Case Western Reserve University and trained bilingual speech-language pathologist. Cassandra’s research interests include engaging with communities to examine the cultural and linguistic factors that impact the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various communication disorders among bilingual populations. Her current research aims to advance the accessibility of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Spanish resources for clinicians and families by leveraging artificial intelligence. Her primary mentor is Dr. Lauren Calandruccio in the Speech and Auditory Research (SpAR) Lab, and is completing a lab rotation with Dr. Long in Summer and Fall 2025.
Cassandra has clinical experience working across pediatric and adult settings providing Spanish-English bilingual therapy in the areas of speech, language, social communication, dysphagia, and aphasia.
Cassandra is the founder of the CSD Bilingüe Suite, a student-led organization dedicated to empowering students through mentorship and experiential learning. Their mission is to foster a welcoming and respectful environment within the field of CSD to train the next generation of bilingual clinicians. Outside of academics, Cassandra enjoys crafting, watching shows, and spending time with friends.
